Parallel monogamy

From Post-Self

Parallel monogamy describes a trend that emerged sys-side as forking became more common and less expensive. Many in relationships who found themselves drawn to others would fork in order to track a separate relationship, leading to two cocladists (or even the same cladist in multiple instances) tracking separate monogamous relationships. While polyamory remains common and commonly accepted, parallel monogamy describes the majority of romantic cladists.

May Then My Name describes[1] herself in this way, saying that the levels of devotion that she feels make it difficult for her to feel as comfortable as she might in polyamorous relationships. She states that it is difficult in its own way, given that the diverging forks still maintain their attraction to the other's partner, or, in the case that she feels the need to return to a single status, her root instance still maintains an emotional connection to the partner of her up-tree instance. Ioan Bălan expresses similar, leading to em forking Aurel Bălan to enter a relationship with Sasha. Similarly, Debarre forks to track multiple separate relationships.
