In the context of phys-side in the 24th and 25th centuries, an NDA is a mechanism whereby the sharing of information through speech, writing, or typing is prevented by one's implants. This is described as being profoundly uncomfortable, as though one is being prevented from speaking, pushed back against, or restrained. While the actual nondisclosure agreement is a contract between an employee and employer allowing the employer to embargo information in this way, the term NDA has come to refer to the mechanism itself. Once an NDA is lifted, the individual is freely able to communicate around that topic.

Appearances

In Marsh, Günay Sadık is prevented from speaking on what happened during the Century Attack by an NDA which is later lifted. She expresses some trepidation when approaching the subject, perhaps out of fear of that discomfort, but is able to continue easily enough.
