New page

Paracanon

After the Century Attack, a proposal was made to expand the Lagrange System into several distinct physical components known as shards. This endeavor began in the 2410s and was undertaken to provided a set up which was more robust against future attacks or other catastrophes. It was part of the Second Space-Age, which had been ramping up through the relative peace of the latter half of the 24th century. By 2450, there were shards at the Earth-Moon L4 point, the Earth-Sun L4 and L5 points, and in orbit around Mars.

Each shard holds a portion of Lagrange, including sims, cladists, and their creations, as well as some back-up space. Shards are connected to each other via Ansible link, and travel between shards is seamless from the cladist's perspective, though they are still limited by transmission times; as such, the active portions of the shards are not replication but distribution, leaving the passive, storage sections of each shard for replication of data.
