Jonas Anderson is the origin of the Jonas clade, a member of the Council of Eight and an MP in the British Isles in the Western Federation prior to uploading. He was the first upload from the Western Fed.
After uploading, he helped to found the Council of Eight along with a few others as part of an agreement between the Sino-Russian Bloc and the Western Fed. As the System began to solidify into something resembling its final form, he formed the Jonas clade with a few cladists at first, though this soon blossomed to include several thousand. He quickly formed an alliance with True Name in order to secure the continuity and stability of the System, including both the efforts of Secession and Launch.
Jonas Prime, the root instance of the clade, had experienced deterioration of his mental health throughout the early to mid 2300s, leading too an ungrounded state of being. This in turn led to his attempted assassination of True Name in a bid for more open power on Lagrange, and his quitting in 2365. The clade continues, rootless, with most of the members distancing themselves from their down-tree's behavior.
Uploading
Prior to uploading, Jonas was a politician. He led a small leftist party within the Western Fed based out of the British Isles. He was outspoken in his support of the Lost and decried the behavior of those responsible as treasonous. As a result, he was pushed to upload as an 'honor' that would get him out of the way. He was provided with a passphrase to respond with to prove that the procedure had been a success.
Upon uploading, he was able to provide the passphrase as instructed, thus opening up the path for non-S-R Bloc citizens to upload to the fledgling System. This early entry into sys-side life — Jonas was one of the first 1,000 to upload — led to him being a prime candidate for the foundation of the Council of Eight. His connection with the Lost as well as his work with her on the political stage prior to the advent of the System led to him recommending Michelle Hadje to her position on the council as well.
